Nick’s First Day of Kindergarten – Flashback

I found some great pictures of Nick’s first day of kindergarten on Sam’s phone, which made me realize that I never uploaded these pictures! So here’s to reliving the moment. 🙂

Nick started kindergarten this year and has been having such a blast. He ended up in a class with two of his good buddies, so they’re constantly getting up to no good. Oh, and he had a girlfriend who called him tootsie bunny by day two of school…geez. Nicky put up with all the attention on the first day but a bit confused why we all took him to school and why we took so many pictures. From his perspective he’s been going to school for 5 years already so no big deal. You may notice by his gigantic smile though that he was pretty excited too. That’s my brave boy!

Kate’s Pretend Birthday

Kate was a little confused when we had her birthday party this weekend but her real birthday wasn’t until Tuesday. So she decided that the party was her “pretend” birthday. Hahaha! We had a gymnastics party to channel some of the 4 year old energy. She got to get her face painted at another birthday party in the morning so she was oh so festive for her party. She was so happy to have so many friends to celebrate with and to have a CINDERELLA cake. Lucky girl!

My Birthday

Ok, so this year I got the most epic birthday present. It all started the night before when Nicky was going to bed. Apparently he decided that Sam needed to go to the store to buy me a present. Over the next 15 minutes he came out of his room three times to remind Sam “don’t forget the bacon!” I was sure bacon was a code word.

But no, first thing the next morning, Nick ran to the fridge and then brought me my present in bed. I unwrapped it and it turned out to be? Bacon, you guessed it. Apparently he had wanted to make me smiling pancakes for my birthday breakfast. What a sweet boy!

Reading!!!

Oh yeah, and Kate surprised me on our Montana trip by reading the “HOT” knob on the sink. She looked down and out of the blue said “h-o-t, hot!” WHAT???? She still doesn’t even know all her letters but she’s stringing them together. I spent the rest of the trip making her do party tricks. Proud mama. 🙂

Kate loved seeing the princess (aka, the bride) and was so excited when Savannah tossed her bouquet to the kids. I told Kate that she was going to catch the princess’ flowers, which she apparently took to mean that she could just stand in place and the flowers would come to her. The look on the poor girl’s face when she realized that someone else caught the flowers broke my heart! Luckily, the sweet boy who caught the flowers came over and gave Kate the bouquet when she wouldn’t stop crying. She cherished those flowers the rest of the trip!
