We introduced Nicky to the jumper the other day and he LOVES it. He’s so proud to stand on his own! He hasn’t really figured out jumping, but it’s adorable how happy he is just to have his own two feet on the ground. Anything that causes such a fit of bubble blowing must be pretty fun. What a big boy!
Month: March 2010
Official Four Month Stats
Well, for those of you keeping track, Nick weighed in at 16 pounds, 14 ounces at his 4 month appointment. That’s officially double his birth weight. Woo hoo! He’s also top of the charts in height at 27.5″ long. According to the doc, he is teething, is ready for solids, and is “hilarious”. I thought so too. 🙂
Hooked On Phonics
Nick has started to help turn pages when we read books. What a smart kiddo! Makes me so proud!
Grandma and Grandpa!
We had a great visit from grandpa and grandma this weekend (pictures here). Great for Nick because he got to spend so much quality time with grandma and grandpa, but greater for me and Sam because we got to go to March Madness!! Babysitting this weekend has been in the books since Nick was a zygote because we had to buy the tickets so far in advance. I’m going to go right out there and say that these tickets were the best birthday present I’ve ever given Sam. We got to see 6 first and second round games with plenty of upsets and buzzer beaters and spent 2 full days kid free! It was odd walking around the stadium without a giant pregnant belly or a beautiful little boy… I’ve gotten so used to people smiling at me that I forgot it was just because of the baby. No one even looked at us the whole day!
We lucked out with great weather for the weekend, so we got to spend lots of time outside when we weren’t at the games. We hiked up our the hill in our neighborhood nature preserve and went on a hike at Edgewood Park. And then we topped off the weekend with a backyard hang and burgers with the Antonsens. Perfect weekend! Thanks for babysitting mom & dad!
Where’s The Beef?
Nick: Hey guys, I was thinking a juicy giraffe steak would be good for dinner. Can somebody show me how to take a nice big bite of this thing??
Babbling
Nick has gotten much more vocal lately, and we frequently find him telling stories to his stuffed animals. Here are some recent favorites.
New Tricks
Nick learned a new trick today! He started his nap on his back, as always, but when I came in to get him after he woke up he was on his tummy! He’d been getting close to rolling over for a while, but this was the first fully unassisted roll. It also appears that Benny the Bear has learned to roll over too.
River Dance
Nicky was impressing us with an interpretation of River Dance the other day… he’ s so proud! Check out the awesome fat folds on his knees.
Family Friction
Four Months
Our little guy has grown up so much this month. He’s now rolling around – not quite rolling over yet, but so close…he just needs to figure out how to get that lower arm out of the way and he’ll be there. He can grab things with both hands and transfer toys from one hand to another. He sucks on his thumb at will and everything he can get his hands on goes straight in his mouth. He’s still working on laughing but hasn’t given us more than a few heh-heh-hehs strung together yet. He’s awake more during the day and taking better naps (yay!). He loves anything that crinkles or rattles, loves his swing and loves taking nature walks in the Bjorn. We have our 4 month appointment next week, so I’ll update his stats then!
This next month will be our last together at home before Nick has to start day care and I have to go back to work. I can’t believe how fast it’s gone.
