Dear Kate,
Six months! How have six months gone by already! Think of all the things you’ve learned to do over the last six months…smile, laugh, hold your head up, roll around, play with toys…the list goes on and on. You’ve been busy! A couple days ago you started sitting up. You love being able to see around and especially love watching your brother play from your new vantage point. When you’re not sitting you’re rolling around like crazy. You can pretty much get wherever you want now and you love chasing things down. You’re really getting into “sharing” Nicky’s toys. I don’t know if he feels the same way, but you love checking out whatever he’s playing with. You think you’re such a big girl and I can see that it’s going to be hard to keep you away from all the toys with little parts that you really shouldn’t be putting in your mouth now that you can move.
We’re trying to help you learn to be a big girl at night. We started a big push to get you to drop your bottles at night, with the theory being that if you don’t eat as much at night you’ll finally start eating more during the day and waking up less at night. You started the month waking up 3-4 times a night (!!!) but you’ve dropped down to 1-2 times, which is much more tolerable. You still only drink a little bit during the day and you’re a tiny little thing because of it. You do love to eat your solids and you have every chance in the world to drink more if you want it though so I guess that’s just going to be your style. As your mommy, I would feel much better about my mommy skills if you were a chubby little bunny, but I’m trying hard to respect your decisions.
You’ve inherited so many clothes you could probably wear something new every day. It was so much fun to dress you up for your first Easter. You looked so sweet with your bright blue eyes and rosy pink cheeks…you’re the perfect doll to dress up. You’re still more or less bald, but your hair is growing disproportionately long in your mohawk region and you’re rocking it.
I can’t wait to see what next month brings. Love you little girl!
