Summer Weekend

We had one of our favorite weekends in a long time this weekend.  We didn’t do anything special, but had a great time just hanging around together and enjoying the nice weather. In addition to our traditional First Friday Family Dinner Out, an afternoon at the fair, and a trip to the swimming pool together (Kate’s first time…she loved it!), here’s a little collage of how we spent our time:

Nicky played with his sticky starfish (which was a reward for not using a pacifier at all outside the crib and car, woo hoo!)

Epic Weekend

This weekend was one of those epic milestone weekends. I got a text from daycare on Friday that Kate was doing something new. I’m still not sure what it was because there were so many new things that she learned how to do on Friday. Our days of easy diaper changes are officially over because she can now sit up from a laying down position, she can get all the way onto her hands and knees from either a sitting position or a tummy position and she can pull herself up onto her knees. She still hasn’t figured out how to get her legs to follow her hands to crawl, but she can scoot around backwards on her tummy and pretty much anywhere she wants to go on her bum. All of that happened in one day. Wowsers!

Nicky had a big weekend too because Sam and I finally got up our courage to tackle pacifiers outside of the crib and car. Nicky is aware that the pacifier fairy will be coming soon to take away all of his pacifiers for good in exchange for a big present, so this was the first step. And one that we should have taken a long time ago. But, it’s gone relatively smoothly the last couple days. We’ve been doing lots of distraction and keeping him moving so he doesn’t have much time to think about his missing “fiers”.
