Nicky: Look mommy, a firetruck! That’s so meat.
Mommy: That’s neat?
Nicky: Yeah, that’s awesome! That firetruck is so meat.

The Internet
Nicky’s trying to figure out how to find the firetruck videos on the internet…maybe the next cherry cheese cake bet should be how long until he figures out how to launch internet explorer?

Summer Weekend
We had one of our favorite weekends in a long time this weekend. We didn’t do anything special, but had a great time just hanging around together and enjoying the nice weather. In addition to our traditional First Friday Family Dinner Out, an afternoon at the fair, and a trip to the swimming pool together (Kate’s first time…she loved it!), here’s a little collage of how we spent our time:
We ate “waterlemon” and green beans and cookies
Nicky made a book train and then “read” many of them from memory
Nicky helped the princess with her bottle

Kate tried very hard to crawl…
…she didn’t succeed but she was very cute while she tried

Nicky played with his sticky starfish (which was a reward for not using a pacifier at all outside the crib and car, woo hoo!)
Art & Wine Festival/Fair
We went to the Art & Wine festival this weekend (pictures here). Lots of fun with fair rides, fair food (Nicky had his first corn dog…he’ll never be the same), sunshine, a beautiful lagoon to throw sticks into, and live music. What could be better?
Epic Weekend
This weekend was one of those epic milestone weekends. I got a text from daycare on Friday that Kate was doing something new. I’m still not sure what it was because there were so many new things that she learned how to do on Friday. Our days of easy diaper changes are officially over because she can now sit up from a laying down position, she can get all the way onto her hands and knees from either a sitting position or a tummy position and she can pull herself up onto her knees. She still hasn’t figured out how to get her legs to follow her hands to crawl, but she can scoot around backwards on her tummy and pretty much anywhere she wants to go on her bum. All of that happened in one day. Wowsers!
Nicky had a big weekend too because Sam and I finally got up our courage to tackle pacifiers outside of the crib and car. Nicky is aware that the pacifier fairy will be coming soon to take away all of his pacifiers for good in exchange for a big present, so this was the first step. And one that we should have taken a long time ago. But, it’s gone relatively smoothly the last couple days. We’ve been doing lots of distraction and keeping him moving so he doesn’t have much time to think about his missing “fiers”.

Memorial Park
We took the kids up to Memorial Park a bit ago to play in the redwood forest (pictures here). We spent the morning there playing in the big trees(literally) and in the dirt, had a nice picnic lunch and then headed home for naps. Very fun morning!
Up, Up and Away…
How did Nicky get big enough to do this “all by self”??

Vroom vroom
Nicky is teaching his baby sister so many things, including how to drive his car. Baby Kate loves it!
