Bay Area Discovery Museum

We had a water-focused Family Fun Day on Sunday to celebrate Sam’s birthday.  We started out at the Bay Area Discovery Museum in Marin (pictures here) and had lots of fun exploring and chasing birds.  We’d been there once before when Nicky was barely walking and had done one or two of the activities but this time got to explore a lot more and had a lot of fun!  The highlight is, of course, the water feature.  We came prepared this time with extra clothes so Nick splashed and played to his heart’s content.

After the BADM and a long nap to recover, we spent some time running through the sprinkler in the back yard and then went to the pool to go swimming.  I’ve never seen a happier boy in the pool.  He was so cold his little lips were shivering but he kept refusing to get out and the whole time we were there had the biggest smile on his face.  It was so nice to spend the day playing in the sun!

Happy 4th of July

We had an excellent long weekend with grandma Cheryl and grandpa Sam.  Somehow we didn’t end up with any pictures of the grandparents — I still can’t figure out how that happened, but I guess it was because we were too busy having fun.  Here are the pictures we did get.  Little Nicky wasn’t quite able to stay up for the fireworks, but he was busy with patriotic activities like running through the sprinkler and eating corn on the cob during the day.

St Michaels

After D.C. we went to St Michaels.  According to Nicky, the best parts of St Michaels were getting to meet L., the “wow, big boats!” that were right outside our hotel patio and the hotel swimming pool.  According to mommy and daddy, Ellen and Henrik’s beautiful wedding and our night out with the B. family topped the list too.  All of the pictures are here, but here are  a few of my favorites.

East Coast Vacation

Well, if you’re wondering where we’ve been hiding, we just returned from a great vacation on the east coast.  We spent the first half of the week in the Washington D.C. area with family and the second half of the week in a little crabbing town on the Chesapeake Bay for a friend’s wedding.  I have to admit, after some of our recent vacations (Tahoe comes to mind) we were kind of dreading ever leaving the house again for a family vacation.  Despite a few days of adjustment with Nick refusing to eat or sleep, it was a very fun and even relaxing vacation.

We had a blast visiting Nana and Grandad and Uncle Frank and Aunt Nancy.  The whole album is here, but these are some of the highlights:

A metro ride to the Natural History museum.  Nicky loved seeing all the bones and diligently said “hi” and “bye” to each of them, waving and blowing good bye kisses as he walked along.
